Standard V Educational Effectiveness Assessment
Assessment of student learning and achievement demonstrates that the institution’s students have accomplished educational goals with their program of study, degree level, the institution’s mission, and appropriate expectations for institutions of higher education.
This standard demonstrates that the University’s students have achievements in learning appropriate to their academic program and our mission. Broadly, this standard seeks evidence that Hofstra provides clearly stated and interrelated educational goals, regularized assessments of student achievement based on curricular goals and the mission, and that these assessments have led to improvements related to learning, curricular design, student support, planning and budgeting, with a focus on improving key measures of student success including retention and graduation rates.
Some of your work may overlap with that of other Working Groups, notably that of Standard III: Design and Delivery of the Student Learning Experience. Consultation with this Working Group is encouraged to avoid duplication of effort and to identify appropriate linkages between standards and institutional priorities.
