Research Experience at Oxford University

Each year Hofstra University selects one faculty member to pursue their research interests for a period of one week in the academic environment of Harris Manchester College at the University of Oxford. Each summer, Harris Manchester College hosts a number of academics from around the world for a week-long institute. Airfare, room, and board are covered.

The person selected for the opportunity has access to not only the Tate Library in the college, but can request access to the Bodleian Library as a Visiting Research Scholar. There is no set schedule while at the Institute, but there is a reception and regular meals in the dining Hall to provide opportunities for participants to meet other scholars at the Institute. Recipients also have access to the Senior Common Room which is a central meeting place for Research Scholars. Accommodations are in the college facilities with study/bedrooms. All rooms have Internet access.

The Institute is typically scheduled for early July each year. A call for applications is sent out to all faculty early in the spring semester. The individual selected should be prepared to arrive as scheduled and spend the full week. The attendee must submit a brief report on this experience and its value upon return.

For more information about this program, please see the brochure about the institute here: http://www.hmc.ox.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Summer-Research-Institute-Brochure-.pdf
