Master’s in Health Informatics

Hofstra’s 36-credit Master of Science in Health Informatics combines an innovative curriculum with advanced training to give you a thorough understanding of current health information systems and technologies, a growing and exciting field. Through the program's coursework and integrated field experience, you'll gain the skills and knowledge necessary to analyze, design, and manage health information systems for clinical, administrative, and research purposes. Students can complete the program in 2 years. 

Note for International Students: Health Informatics is a STEM program

For international students, the STEM OPT extension is a 24-month period of temporary training that directly relates to an F-1 student's program of study in an approved STEM field.  Students who finish their program of study and participate in an initial period of regular post-completion OPT (often for 12 months) have the option to apply for a STEM OPT extension. Student could file extension request to USCIS for additional two years OPT extension.

Applying to the MS in Health Informatics Program

The 36-credit Master of Science in Health Informatics graduate program features an integrated practicum in which you’ll gain hands-on experience in health informatics areas such as electronic medical records, health information exchange and integration, and data analytics.

The program director reviews all graduate applications and then distributes merit-based scholarships to eligible applicants. No other materials are needed other than your application to be considered for a scholarship.

Continuing students will be notified when additional scholarships become available and students can apply for them.
