Center for University Advising

Mission

The Center for University Advising (CUA) partners with undergraduate students to develop goals, understand degree requirements and make informed decisions about their academics. CUA empowers students with the knowledge, resources and ability to take ownership of their academic endeavors. CUA takes a holistic approach to advising, considering all aspects of a student’s academic and professional development.

Dual Advising at Hofstra

All undergraduate students are assigned an advisor in the Center for University Advising to serve as their general academic advisor. Once students declare a major, they will be assigned to a faculty advisor within their academic department and should contact their faculty advisor for major-related advising concerns. Throughout their journey at Hofstra, students can rely on both their advisors in CUA and their faculty advisors to provide support for their academic endeavors.

In addition to advising and academic planning, the Center for University Advising hosts signature registration events for Hofstra students! One of these events is our annual Course Registration Carnival in the fall. Registration events provide an opportunity for students to connect with their peers, receive one-on-one attention from an advising dean, and celebrate creating a new course schedule. Take a look at some highlights from our fall event. CUA also hosts Dos and Donuts of Registration in the spring.
