Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business BBA 100 class for first-year students capped off the spring semester with Alumni Mentor Day, allowing them to connect and chat with Zarb graduates representing various business professions and industries, including #finance, #marketing, #accounting, #sports #management, #entrepreneurship, and #cybersecurity. The Strategic Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Competition at Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business once again allowed students to step beyond the classroom and into the high-stakes world of cyber defense. Sponsored by the SCHIFFER FAMILY FOUNDATION and open to all students, the event was designed to simulate real-world cybersecurity threats, allowing students to test their technical and strategic business skills. The competition began in March with teams submitting infographics on themes such as cyber diplomacy, cyber war, or insider threats. From there, eight teams advanced to the final round, with four teams — Code Red, The Diamonds, IT 224 WJ, and HofNet — competing in person in a two-part challenge where teams vied for first, second, and third place scholarship awards. Spring Break 2025 for some undergraduate and graduate students at Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business featured a global immersion experience that brought them face-to-face with some of the world’s most influential business leaders – culminating in the extraordinary honor of closing the market at the London Stock Exchange. Led by Richard Hayes, executive director of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with Jieqiong (Jeccy) Ma, associate professor of Marketing, International Business and Legal Studies, the group’s weeklong itinerary included site visits and meetings with executives from Apple UK, Eli Lilly and Company, Makerversity, and the London-based venture capital firm Black Seed VC. They also visited the Museum of Brands and community-driven entrepreneurial hubs like Impact Brixton. The recently concluded NorthEast Decision Sciences Institute conference in Hershey was a great opportunity for students in the Frank G. Zarb School of Business MS Business Analytics program. Thanks to the support of Alex Pelaez, Ph.D., four of our students had excellent opportunities to present their research. Congrats to Khushi Mehta , Grace Gallagher, Nicholas Patrichuk, MBA and Prakarsha Mitra for your work on these studies and for presenting your work at the conference. Decision Sciences Institute regional conferences are a great way for students to present their work at relatively smaller but well attended academic conferences and showcases a potential pathway for some of them to pursue further research and doctoral level studies.
