Students in the Rhetorical Studies at Hofstra University can find exceptional internship experiences. The Department of Rhetoric is committed to preparing students for the ever-changing world outside of the classroom, and we believe your liberal arts training and communication expertise will give you an edge.
An internship can give you hands-on experience putting class theory to practice, and our proximity to New York City and greater Long Island allows for limitless opportunities. Our students have interned with media and entertainment companies, nonprofit organizations, government institutions, and in arts and educational settings, including:
- Comedy Central
- Covenant House
- CUNY Creative Arts Team
- Frost & Sullivan Growth Consulting
- Joffrey Ballet
- Manhattan Theatre Club
- Marvel Comics
- National M.S. Society
- NBC
- NHL's New York Islanders
- Rolling Stone magazine
- U.S. Department of Justice
- United Nations
- Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership
- Youth Theatre Program
Juniors and seniors in good standing are eligible for internship credit and can earn up to 6 semester hours toward their degree in fall, spring, or summer semesters. While it's not a requirement, we strongly encourage you to pursue an internship to enhance your career opportunities. If there's an internship you'd like to pursue or you just have questions, any of your professors in the Department of Rhetoric can help you.
