Industry Standards
Hofstra's Podcasting and Audio Storytelling program has several broadcast production studios that serve as teaching classrooms, a digital audio post-production lab, and a multimedia audio/video live musical performance studio. The Content Suite, a collaborative multimedia space for individuals and student groups, contains Avid Media Composer digital editing software with ENPS integration, Final Cut Pro, ProTools, and the Adobe Media Suite.

The course sequence in Podcasting and Audio Storytelling builds consistently upon both the technical skill sets and creative capacities that are needed to succeed in the contemporary audio content creation industry at every level.

The Outlook
According to Pew Research Center, "the share of Americans who listen to podcasts has substantially increased over the last decade. As of 2023, 44% of Americans ages 12 and older have listened to a podcast in the past month" (“The Infinite Dial,” Edison Research).
Our program harnesses the energy of these trends and attracts students who are looking to enter careers in this growing industry, while at the same time providing a range of technical and creative skill sets that are relevant to terrestrial radio broadcasting and other sectors of the audio media landscape.
