Mailing Address
All residents will receive a mailbox and combination or key on their first day of check-in. USPS mail is delivered to the residence hall mail rooms daily, and then distributed to the resident's mailbox. Residents who receive USPS packages too large to fit in the student's mailbox will receive a package slip in their mailbox with instructions to pick up the package between 6-9 p.m. at the Resident Assistant Office. Residents will need their Hofstra ID to pick up packages. All FedEx, UPS, and some Amazon packages must be picked up at the Post Office in the lower level of the bookstore with the student's ID.

Where Is My Mail? (USPS)
According to the tracking information for my package, it should have been delivered. However, I did not receive a package slip or email. Where can I find my package?
If the letter/package is being delivered by USPS, it will be delivered to your residence hall mail room.
Residence hall mail rooms only accept United States Postal Service (USPS) letters and packages. If you receive a delivery confirmation e-mail that package was delivered, the package is at the Hempstead USPS office, not your residence hall. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for your mail to be delivered from the Hempstead USPS Post Office to your residence hall mail room. Residence hall mail rooms do not have the capability of confirming a delivery via USPS. Only the Hempstead Post Office can do this.
Packages can be picked up every night between the hours of 6pm and 9pm from your residence hall RA Office.
Please note: If a USPS package needs to be signed for, it will be delivered to the Bookstore Post Office.
Where Is My Mail? (UPS, FedEx, DHL)
If your package is being delivered by UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc., it will be delivered to the post office located on the lower level of the bookstore. If you receive an email from the delivery service confirming that your package was delivered, please allow another 24 to 48 hours for the Bookstore Post Office to process your package. When your package has been processed, an email will be sent to your Hofstra pride email account from the Book Store Post Office.
The Bookstore Post Office's Hours of Operation:
- Monday through Thursday: Noon – 5 p.m.
- Friday: Noon – 3:45 p.m.
The Bookstore Post Office's Hours for Package Pickup:
- Monday through Thursday: Noon – 6:15 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: Noon-3:45 p.m.
Packages may be picked up daily from noon up until 15 minutes prior to closing.
Amazon Locker
If you are ordering items through Amazon, you have the option of using the on-campus Amazon Locker for pickup of your package. The locker is located on the lower level of the Student Center between the Pride Den and the Game Room. When you are ordering your items through Amazon, select "Cria" as the delivery address. Once the package arrives, you will receive an email with a code for pickup and will have three (3) days to retrieve your package. You can also return items to Amazon through the Amazon Locker by following the provided return instructions.
Based on availability of lockers and the size of your item(s), the Amazon Locker may not be available for use. If this is the case, Amazon is instructed to return packages back to the sender, which will result in a significant delay in your delivery.
During peak times, the Locker may be unavailable due to capacity. The Locker will appear greyed-out during check-out; this means the Locker has no available slots to receive your package. Manually adding the Locker as the shipping address will not equate to a Locker delivery. Please only choose a Locker as a shipping address from your address book.

Mail Forwarding/Change of Address
Effective the day after general commencement, packages addressed to any residence hall – except for the summer residence hall – will be returned to sender by the U.S. Postal Service. ONLY first class mail letters will be forwarded to a student’s address of record. As third class and bulk rate mail is not forwarded, the Office of Residence Life strongly urges you to contact companies with which you have magazine subscriptions to give them your summer address.
Summer housing residents must use the address for the summer residence hall (typically Bill of Rights or Alliance Hall) to avoid mail disruption. Any resident not residing on campus over the summer should update their mailing address in late April by following the instructions on Hofstra’s website at this link.
