The Sociology Department internship course - SOC 132 Independent Fieldwork and Research Internship - is available in the fall and spring semesters.
Fieldwork and internships are designed to enhance students' practical exposure to and understanding of applied sociological analysis. So the internship experience is generally reserved for advanced majors and minors in Sociology. The combination of practical experience in a sociologically relevant setting with an academically oriented program of study under the supervision of a member of the department’s faculty can offer a valuable learning opportunity. Students interested in an internship should make an appointment to discuss the possibilities with the department chair.
