Bachelor of Arts in Biology (Science) Education
Courses in this science education program, taken in combination with the appropriate liberal arts and sciences major, lead toward New York state initial teacher certification in Biology (grades 7-12). The program provides necessary course work for additional certification in general science as well. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout all aspects of the programs. This program conforms with the New York State Learning Standards in Mathematics, Science and Technology and with the recommendations of the National Science Teachers’ Association.
Master of Science in Education in Biology (Science) Education
This 37-semester hour program is for students who possess an undergraduate degree in Biology. Courses in the science education program, taken in combination with the appropriate liberal arts and sciences courses, lead toward New York State initial teacher certification in Biology (adolescent education, grades 7-12). This program is designed to blend on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings, culminating in full-time student teaching. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout all aspects of the program. Regardless of the certification area in science that is selected, the program provides necessary course work for additional certification in general science as well. This program conforms with the New York State Learning Standards in Mathematics, Science and Technology and with the recommendations of the National Science Teachers' Association.
Master of Arts in Biology (Science) Education
This 33-semester hour program is for students who possess initial teacher certification in Biology in grades 7-12. Successful completion of all program requirements leads to professional certification for teachers. The program provides advanced study in the curriculum, pedagogy, and content of the sciences. Plus, you select a cognate concentration in one of these areas (Multicultural Education, The Arts and Humanities, Educational Technology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Bilingual Education*, or Gifted Education*) and may also add a middle-level certification extension (grades 5 and 6) into any concentration. The program conforms with the recommendations for teacher preparation by the National Science Teachers Association and the New York State Learning Standards in Mathematics, Science, and Technology.

Advanced Certificate in Secondary Biology Education
This 25-semester hour program is for students who have an undergraduate degree in Biology, as well as a graduate degree in any area. You can be certified in only one year.
Learning and Teaching, Doctoral Program (Ed.D.) in
Leading to the degree of Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), the Doctoral Program in Learning and Teaching prepares students to work as educational researchers, curriculum developers, teacher educators, and mentor teachers in schools and other educational settings. Students will generate, apply, and disseminate theory, research, and instructional materials to inform curriculum development and teacher education. The program enables students to acquire broad and deep knowledge of studies of learning and teaching, gain research skills with quantitative and qualitative methods, and complete a specialized program of studies in their area of expertise. The program also enables students to design and implement dissertation projects that contribute to the knowledge base in studies of learning and teaching and have practical applications for schools and other educational settings.
