Bio

Martha Hollander received a B.A.From Yale University and a PhD. from the University of California at Berkeley, and have taught at Hofstra since 1995. She has also taught at UCLA, SUNY Albany, School of Visual Arts, Pratt Institute, and Parsons School of Design. She is the author of An Entrance for the Eyes; Space and Meaning in Seventeenth Century Dutch Art (University of California Press). She has also published various articles on Dutch art and culture. While her specialization is Baroque art, she teaches a wide range of art history courses as well as in the Women's Studies program. Her latest project is a study of masculinity and costume in seventeenth-century Holland. Other interests include the history of costume, the history of film, science fiction and fantasy, film adaptations of literature, and the history of film production design.
