Bio
Dr. Fonfeder received a Ph.D. in accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York. He earned an M.Phil. at The City University of New York and an M.B.A. in finance at Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York. He is licensed by New York State as a certified public accountant and is also a certified management accountant.
Dr. Fonfeder's background covers a wide range of business experience, including the position of consultant to the New York City Mayor's Office. He has also served as a member of the National Oversight Board of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners.
Professor Fonfeder's articles have been published in the Journal of Business Economics, the Journal of Portfolio Management, The Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance, CFA Digest, Review of Business and Economics Research, the Journal of Financial Management, the Review of Business, The CPA Journal, The Accounting Historian's Journal, AFP Exchange and Strategic Finance.
He was a contributing author to the following books: Complete Budgeting Workbook and Guide, Handbook on Budgeting For Non-Profit Organizations, Corporate Controller's Handbook of Financial Management, and the GAAP Handbook of Policies and Procedures (2007), all published by Prentice-Hall; Financial Management for Nonprofits, the Complete Guide to Maximizing Resources and Managing Assets, published by McGraw-Hill; The International Handbook of Computer Security, published by the American Management Association (2000); and The International Handbook of Computer Networks, published by Trentop Management Books Ltd. (2004)..
Dr. Fonfeder's article 'The Impact of Foreign Currency Translation Under FASB 52 on Equity Returns,' was published in Financial Management, and an empirical study he did on equity prices appeared in the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Oxford, England.
Dr. Fonfeder received an award for his research from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also received research grants from Deloitte & Touche and KPMG. In addition, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Character and Excellence in Contributing to the Literature for the Advancement of Management Accounting and Financial Management, awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants.
Professor Fonfeder is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.
