Bio
Prof. Hoffman is invested in students' academic success and personal growth and has experience in academic success coaching for at-risk students. She infuses a great deal of information on how to be a good student into her courses and strives to be very accessible to her students. Every semester since she has been teaching public speaking at Hofstra, at least one of her students has placed in the Rhetoric program's public speaking competition. Before coming to Hofstra, Prof. Hoffman worked as a social worker, running a homeless shelter and working with mentally ill and drug-addicted residents, and working for Child Protective Services. She also loves books and currently owns an antique book business. Her main loves are her dogs, her kids, and enjoying the Great South Bay in the summer.
