Bio

Sharon R. Phillips, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions and Human Services in the Department of Population Health and teaches in the Community Health and Health Sciences programs as well as in the School of Education in the Department of Specialized Programs in Education in the Physical Education Teacher Education program.Sharon is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, where she earned her PhD and MPhil in Kinesiology, Kean University, where she earned her MA in Educational Administration and Supervision, and Rowan University, where she earned her BA in Health and Physical Education.Prior to coming to Long Island, she taught in the Sport and Leisure Studies Department at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Her main research focus is the teaching and curriculum of K-12 physical education.Outside of Hofstra, she is proud to be the founder of the Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation and resides in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
