Dr. Chandra earned a B.S. from Agra University and an M.S. in operations research from the University of Delhi, India. He received a D.Sc. in operations research with a minor in statistics from George Washington University. Dr. Chandra is also a reliability engineer and a quality engineer certified by The American Society for Quality.
Dr. Chandra has published articles in Mathematics of Operations Research, the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Quality Progress, Expert Systems With Applications, the Journal of Management Development, Quality Engineering, Annual Review of Communications (a publication of the International Engineering Consortium) and other professional journals. He has made presentations at the annual conferences of the World Quality Congress and the Quality Management Division of American Society for Quality.
Before coming to Hofstra, Dr. Chandra taught at the University of Iowa in the department of industrial and management engineering and at the University of Delhi in the department of operations research.
Dr. Chandra is a senior member of The American Society for Quality. He served as an Excelsior Award examiner for the year 1993-94. Dr. Chandra has served as a review panelist (field reader) for the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GANN) Program and Minorities in Sciences Program (MISP) of the United States Department of Education.
Presently Dr. Chandra is involved in research in the fields of quality management, artificial intelligence and innovation.
