Dr. Kafantaris completed medical school and residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her clinical child and adolescent psychiatry training at NYU/Bellevue. She remained at NYU/Bellevue to complete an NIH-supported fellowship (T32) in pediatric psychopharmacology research under the direction of Magda Campbell, MD. Dr. Kafantaris is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Hofstra-North Shore LIJ School of Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is Director of Research in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Zucker Hillside Hospital of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. She has conducted and participated in numerous NIH-funded clinical trials involving children and adolescents for over 25 years. She is nationally recognized for her expertise in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
