Bio
Professor Dr. Bishnoi served as Chairman of the Finance department after being granted early tenure. He earned a B.Engineering. from IIT Roorkee, an M.B.A. from I.I.M., Ahmedabad, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
For nearly four years he worked as an export manager. Prior to joining the Hofstra faculty, he taught at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and in the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Massachusetts, where students nominated him for the University Distinguished Teaching Award in 1983. The Division also awarded him an honorary membership in Alpha Sigma Lambda in recognition of his concern for the nontraditional student.
Dr. Bishnoi has served as a referee for The Global Business and Finance Review, The Financial Review (ad hoc), IDEA-International, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, and The Planning Review. His current research interests include corporate finance and international business, banking and investments. He has published and presented over 110 refereed papers in his travels to over 50 countries.
Dr. Bishnoi has served on the board of Concepts Europe (U.S.A.), Inc., and as a founder-member on the board of RAAR Inc. He has served on the boards of the North American Economics and Finance Association (NAEFA), the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER), and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), while actively involved with consulting, including assignments with J.P. Morgan Chase and G.E. Capital. He is a member of the Financial Management Association, the Academy of Economics and Finance, and the Eastern Finance Association.
A former Department Chair at Hofstra, Dr. Bishnoi was selected as the 1992 Faculty Inductee to Beta Gamma Sigma. In 1998 the second edition of his co-edited book on multinationals was published. Dr. Bishnoi has taught international finance in the Hofstra/Erasmus joint international summer program in the Netherlands.
