Professor Pollack joined Hofstra University in 2005 following five years as a lecturer and
adjunct professor at New York University. Her teaching approach incorporates real-world
business examples and current events to illustrate academic concepts in the principles of
marketing, advertising, and business strategy. Student involvement is essential in her classroom,
and Professor Pollack encourages students to delve into businesses and brands of personal
interest to "bring alive" their academic studies while developing analytical and critical thinking
skills.

Background and Experience:

Debra Pollack works with unique perspective of both a successful multi-faceted marketing
executive and academic. Her strategic consulting, consumer products marketing, new business
development, licensing, and retail trade experiences includes work with well known brands such
as Colgate Palmolive, Pfizer, PBS children's programming, and Birkenstock shoes. She has
traveled nationally representing brands to major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, and
Ahold Grocery (parent company of Stop & Shop).
