Why did you choose to attend Hofstra?

I chose Hofstra mostly because of location – close to home but I was able to live on-campus. I also chose Hofstra because of the campus atmosphere – it’s beautiful. Plus there were also so many great academic opportunities at the Zarb School of Business.

What activities or organizations have you been involved with at Hofstra?

I participated in SheEOs: Women in Business, Hofstra American Marketing Association, and Deans Business Scholars, and they had a significant impact on my time at Hofstra. SheEOs: Women in Business brought many speakers to club events to talk about their personal and professional experiences throughout their careers.  I have made many friendships through the Hofstra American Marketing Association, and it made the experience more personal. Deans Business Scholars has given me many academic opportunities to better my business career. It allowed me to meet with many business industry experts and mentors through the Business School.

Have you completed any internships?

I have completed two internships while at Hofstra: I’RAISE and Resilience. At I’RAISE, I was a Human Resources Intern,  sending initial outreach to applicants and reviewing candidate resumes. I also coordinated and conducted interviews with potential volunteers, interns, and contractors, among other duties. At Resilience, I was a Human Resources Talent Acquisition Intern,  and my primary role was to contact potential senior advisors via LinkedIn and establish connections. These internships helped me professionally because while I was applying for full time jobs, I took what I learned from the internships and applied it to my resume and interviewing skills.  Having reviewed countless resumes and conducted multiple interviews, I knew what recruiters were looking for on a resume and also what answers I should say on an interview.

What is the Geneen Scholarship and how did you get it?

The Geneen Scholarship was a great opportunity provided by the business school to help senior management students with outstanding academic achievements. In order to receive the scholarship, I had to write a four-page essay discussing corporate social responsibility (CSR). Throughout the essay I had to describe CSR and give multiple examples of companies that practiced CSR. I also had to interview with Dean Vickerie, Professor Hayes, and a board member to discuss the essay written and my academic work. I found out that I won a week later. It was an amazing experience to win the scholarship in my senior year and I am grateful for the opportunity.

What will you miss the most about Hofstra?

Hofstra has given me some of the best experiences and opportunities in my life, but what I am going to miss most about Hofstra is hanging out with my friends in the back of the business building C. V. Starr during common hour. Those times were some of my best college memories because you never knew who you were going to see or hang out with. C.V. Starr was like my second home at Hofstra, and I am definitely going to miss being there.
