Minds on the Markets
What is Minds on the Markets 1.0?
Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business and the School of Education, Health, and Human Services have collaborated with the NASDAQ OMX Foundation to teach high school students about financial markets.
Minds on the Markets 1.0, a seven module curriculum developed by Hofstra University, will be available for implementation in the 2012-2013 school year. Video interviews with experts in the field of finance accompany each module and make Minds on the Markets a unique, educational experience. All materials are free of charge.
How do schools participate?
Teachers of Social Studies, Business Education, and Economics can participate in either the Fall or Spring term or over the course of the full year.
Program highlights
After completing Modules 4 and 7, challenges are provided for student teams to collaboratively solve. The challenges will be assessed by Hofstra University professors. The winning team of the final challenge will be invited to New York for a three-day, whirlwind financial tour. The winning team members will also be invited to ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ in Times Square.
