Majors
- BA in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences
This program prepares students for graduate study and careers in speech-language pathology, audiology, or other sciences. Coursework includes Anatomy and Physiology of Speech Mechanisms, Multicultural Aspects of Communication and Communication Disorders, and Experimental Psycholinguistics. - Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences (BA) and Speech-Language Pathology (MA) Dual-Degree Program
This new dual-degree program, which can be complete in five and one-half years, allows students to earn simultaneous credit toward their undergraduate and graduate degrees. We encourage eligible students to apply for this program – it will save them time and money and will put them on a fast track toward their career in speech-language pathology.
Minor
- Minor in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences
The department offers a minor that requires the completion of 18 semester hours of coursework, under advisement and with the approval of the advisor.
Pre-Health Concentration
- Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology
The concentration in speech-language-hearing sciences introduces students to the study of communication disorders across the lifespan and provides the appropriate background in the theories, methods, and research relevant for advanced study in either speech-language pathology or audiology.

Graduate Programs
- Advanced Certificate in Teacher of Students With Speech-Language Disabilities
This Advanced Certificate is for students who possess an MA in Speech-Language Pathology and are seeking the Teaching Students with Speech Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certification. It qualifies students for the profession of speech-language pathology and offers eligibility for NYS certification as an elementary, middle, or secondary teacher of students with speech-language disabilities.
- Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Extension for Speech-Language Pathology
Students can either obtain this Bilingual Extension while they are matriculated in the MA in Speech-Language Pathology program at Hofstra University, or after a master's program in speech-language pathology has been completed along with the TSSLD certification.
