Note:
A Medication Request Form must be filled out by your child's physician, and must either be sent into the camp office ahead of time or accompany the medication being dropped off.

Medication must be in the original container, including the label with your campers name, dosage, and the prescriber's name.

Careers in Animal Care - Domestic Animals

Take your love for companion animals to the next level. Explore many exciting career paths, develop practical handling skills, and increase your knowledge of Animal Husbandry, Basic Grooming, Diseases, Animal Welfare and Behavior. Typical instructional activities include hands-on experiences with cats, dogs and pocket pets. Various speakers and field trips will enrich this 2 week experience.

Careers in Animal Care - Exotic Animals

Is your child crazy about Animals?? Well this is the camp for them! It's fun, furry, feathery, creepy, crawly and definitely scaly! The campers will learn about exotic animals; their habitat, diet and enrichment necessary for the well-being of the animals as well as disease prevention, handling and lots of loving! We also explore and learn about the environment which affects animals and humans alike. There will also be various speakers and field trip opportunities to enrich the experience.


Careers in Animal Care - Introduction to Large Animals

In this course students will study the basics of large animal husbandry, including but not limited to, horses, sheep, goats and pigs. Students will demonstrate practical knowledge and skills on horses. Students will also participate in a large animal interactive learning environment. Included in the program will be in-house recreational projects and crafts to supplement and enhance their learning environment. Students will also take part in a field trip to a local pasture for real hands-on experience. While on site at Barry Tech, students will have the opportunity to work with some of our smaller animals.

Schedule: This is a full day program in Animal Care, which will take place at Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center. All classes take place at the Nassau BOCES Barry Tech campus between 10am-3pm. If you opt to use Hofstra Summer Camps transportation camp times will vary.
