Law Dean Search

Hofstra University seeks nominations and applications for the dean of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law. The dean will join a collaborative and collegial community of impactful scholars, excellent students, committed staff, and proud alumni of a financially sound law school that just completed an exceedingly successful capital campaign. Located within the leading institution of higher education on Long Island with an affiliated, preeminent healthcare system, medical school, business school, and school of engineering and applied science, Hofstra Law has renewed opportunity for growth and success under the leadership of the ambitious and visionary new president and new provost.

From its founding more than fifty years ago, Hofstra Law has served as an innovator in legal education. Hofstra Law was one of the first law schools to implement clinical education as a means of graduating practice-ready lawyers. Innovation remains at the Law School’s foundation, most recently in the realm of legal technology and interdisciplinary, experiential programs.

The dean directs and leads a combined faculty and staff of 100 and administers an annual operating budget of more than $35.5 million. Hofstra Law currently enrolls approximately 900 students in its J.D. and L.L.M. programs. More than 46 percent of its approximately 13,000 alumni reside and work on Long Island or in New York City where Hofstra Law enjoys a strong reputation among legal practitioners and employers for the strong skills and work ethic of its graduates. The dean will take the helm of a law school that is a highly regarded leader and valuable partner within the legal community of Long Island, New York, and within the broader legal community in the state.
