Special Event Services

Facilities and Operations serves the 244-acre campus 24 hours a day to ensure safety, readiness, and accessibility. Hofstra administration, staff, and faculty should request non-emergency services using the Facilities and Operations Work Request. For facilities emergencies, contact the Facilities and Operations Service Desk at 516-463-6619.

GUIDELINES FOR SERVICE REQUESTS

WORK REQUESTS

Note: Time-Sensitive/Urgent Issues - Requests for maintenance may be deemed urgent if requiring immediate attention or must be scheduled within 24 hours.    

For Hofstra Staff - Log on to the Hofstra portal for the WebTMA Work Request Form in the My Applications menu. For assistance or to report an issue that requires immediate attention, contact the Facilities and Operations Work Controls Group at 516-463-6619 or review the guidelines for Work Requests in WebTMA in the Forms/Facilities and Operations menu on the Hofstra portal. 

For Hofstra Residential Students - Use the WebTMA portal to report issues in residence halls, or contact the Residence Life Office at 516-463-6930. To report an issue that requires immediate attention, contact the Residence Life Office at 516-463-6930 or the Department of Public Safety at 516-463-6606.

For Hofstra Non-Residential Students - Report issues anywhere on campus to a Hofstra staff member.

What is a maintenance emergency? Some examples include:

  • Electrical problem
  • Leak of any type
  • Spill
  • Floor issue
  • Broken window
  • Temperature-related issue
  • Door/Key issue that prevents access or security

New or Damaged Keys

  • Authorized persons may complete the Hofstra Key Request Form to request a new key to a Hofstra facility or furnishing. All requests require approval from a Hofstra department.

Residence Hall Keys

Cost Estimates

Estimates of expected costs for work can be provided with the department budget number and approval. The "request for estimate" should be clearly stated on the form under the description of work. Complete the Facilities and Operations Work Request Form to initiate a request. For more information, contact the Service Desk at 516-463-6619.

 

Work Scheduling

Work requests are coordinated with cost and efficiency in mind. Most requests require more than one work group, or trade, to complete. Daily requirements for activities and emergencies are scheduled as needed, and so the schedule of work is flexible by design. Efficiency to allow the greatest amount of work to be accomplished is the primary concern for the department. For more information, contact the Work Controls group at 516-463-5264.

Special Event Services at Hofstra

Facilities and Operations works with the Hofstra community to present a variety of events for students, staff, and visitors every day of the year. Over 500 campus organizations and visiting groups sponsor over 13,000 events every year using Hofstra facilities and services.

The Office of Event Management coordinates the use of Hofstra resources for visiting and on-campus groups. The office is open seven days a week. Visit the Hospitality Service Desk in the Office of Event Management, Room 112 Mack Student Center, or call the office at 516-463-6925. When the office is closed, contact the Department of Public Safety at 516-463-6606 for assistance with current activity information.
