Curriculum

Learn scientific concepts of fitness, exercise, disease risk reduction, and nutrition, as well as techniques used to evaluate health status. Design a course of study based on your interests and career goals.

You will also complete a senior-year field experience at approved fitness/wellness centers or in programs related to strength and conditioning, physical therapy, corporate fitness, and cardiac rehabilitation. 

Pre-professional clubs such as the Hofstra Athletic Training Society (HATS) and Exercise Is Medicine, as well as various intramural and club sports, spirit support, and recreational activities, can help you connect with students who have similar interests. 

 

The Outlook

Your degree gives you numerous career options and will prepare you to take certification exams and pursue advanced degrees in fields such as sports science, physical therapy, occupational therapy, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and other health and wellness disciplines.
