I Got This

Julie Singh ’24

I chose Hofstra because I wanted a university close enough to easily access Manhattan, yet far enough to experience distinct campus life. This vibrant community has enriched my college experience and created a supportive environment for personal and academic growth.

One of my favorite experiences at Hofstra was working on the team that produced the “Welcome to the Pride Prom.” I was able to witness first-hand the fruition of my hard work and see the joy it brought to more than 500 students. It was incredibly rewarding and encapsulated the collaborative and vibrant spirit of Hofstra.

I have made my best friends at Hofstra. I have mentors that support me and have had countless enriching experiences both academically and personally throughout my time here. I graduate knowing that I am ready and excited for whatever the future holds.

I know you can enjoy Hofstra as much as I did!

“Hofstra has provided me with so many opportunities to get involved, network, and grow both personally and professionally,” said Julie, a finance major who will start a job as a financial crimes and analytics associate while also pursing her Master of Business Administration at Hofstra upon graduation.

Julie served as a senator, facilities and operations chair, and vice president on the Student Government Association; president of the Financial Management Association; co-chair of events management for the Zarb Undergraduate Leadership Council; member, anchor, and producer at WRHU, Hofstra’s radio station; and scholarship chair, service chair and Bursar Phi Sigma Sigma.

“Several mentors played pivotal roles in my academic and personal development. They were great resources and provided unwavering support and encouragement. It didn’t matter if they were a dean, vice president, or admission counselor. I felt like I always had an advocate and was always valued.”

It was this support and encouragement that encouraged Julie to seize an opportunity to become an Embark Scholar intern at Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) in 2022. The Embark Scholars program is a multiyear, 8-week, paid internship program with national training and rotations through multiple departments. The program focuses on coaching and developing students into key leaders. Julie’s participation in the program progressed to a financial crimes and analytics intern, and eventually a full-time job opportunity as a financial crimes and analytics associate at KPMG upon graduation.

“Because Hofstra provided me with a comprehensive education and the opportunities to start networking at an early point in my college career, I was able to secure the ideal job upon graduation.”

For Julie, Hofstra was and is a place of opportunity.

“Everything about Hofstra holds a special place in my heart – the people, classes, and the overall community. I’ll miss the bonds I’ve forged, the friendships, and the countless memories. While I will always be a part of it, the daily immersion in the unique atmosphere that makes Hofstra special will be deeply missed.”

» Julie’s story isn’t unique. In fact, among Hofstra University’s 2021-2022 undergraduate degree recipients, 94% of alumni from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business reported they were employed or had started or were planning to start graduate school within one year of graduation. Results are based on data collected from the Alumni Outcomes survey, LinkedIn, National Student Clearinghouse, and Hofstra enrollment (78% knowledge rate).
