Dr. Pillaipakkamnatt holds a B.E. in computer engineering (1989) from Andhra University, India and a Ph.D. in computer science (1995) from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. He joined Hofstra as an assistant professor in 1995. His research interests lie in data mining, and machine learning. More narrowly, he is interested in algorithms that preserve an individual's privacy. A second area of research is in the pedagogy of computational thinking. He is part of a multi-disciplinary team that seeks to introduce computational thinking to high school students through app development in STEM courses.

Dr. Zavou’s teaching and research interests include network security, operating systems, and mobile and web applications security. She earned her PhD from Columbia University School of Engineering.

Dr. Duan’s research interests include business analytics, correlation analysis and community detection.

Dr. Li’s research interests are information privacy and security, health information technology and business analytics. He is currently conducting research about privacy and security issues related to electronic health records, online social networks and big data analytics.

Dr. Pelaez has more than 20 years of senior management experience with tech companies of varying sizes. His teaching and research interests include cybersecurity, healthcare information technology, data analytics, social media, and organizational behavior.

Dr. Wu has conducted interdisciplinary research on a variety of topics, including information systems, operations management, marketing, psychology and economics, with a particular focus on user-generated content platforms, social media analytics, behavioral studies and healthcare information technology.

Dr. Kim's research includes mobile location-based services with mobile app, big data analytics in social media, cyber security in cloud computing, and digital forensics. He is currently building the real-time location tracking and positioning system using wireless networking and mobile apps. He has served as a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) , the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), and the International Telecommunications Society (ITS). Dr. Kim earned a Ph.D. in information systems from University of Pittsburgh, and an M.S. in Engineering (major: telecommunications) from University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to coming at Hofstra University, Dr. Kim taught at University of Houston for six years. In addition, he also has industry experience at SK Telecom which is a world-class wireless network operator that launched the world’s first commercial CDMA cellular phone service, as a research engineer.

Dr. Fu’s research and teaching interests include software engineering, formal verification, model checking, information security, web services, web security and malware analysis. His research focuses in the general area of software engineering, with an emphasis on automated verification and testing, to develop theories and techniques for verifying and validating the functionality, reliability, and security of software system. He teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses such as Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, Secure Advanced Software Engineering and Secure Systems and Ethical Hacking. Prior to joining Hofstra, Dr. Fu taught at Georgia Southwestern State University. He earned his PhD from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
