What We Do

Hofstra approaches disability through a social and identity-based lens. We affirm disability as a valued and empowering part of human diversity.  Student Access Services (SAS) ensures equal access to the University’s programs, services, and facilities for students with documented disabilities. SAS provides support and services that are tailored to the needs of individuals based on their specific, appropriately documented requirements, while preserving Hofstra’s academic integrity and high standards of academic expectations and performance.

The Student Access Services achieves our mission by:

  • Providing support and equal access to students with disabilities through the reasonable accommodation process
  • Offering services that are tailored to meet the needs of individuals based on their specific, appropriately documented requirements, while preserving Hofstra’s academic integrity and high standards of academic expectations and performance.  We support students to develop the skills they need to be effective self-advocates at Hofstra and beyond through two additional programs, the Program for Academic Learning Skills (PALS) and Academic Coaching Program (ACP).

Request for Reasonable Accommodation Forms

Students requesting reasonable accommodations based on a disability must complete a Request for Reasonable Accommodations Form found below; each form must be accompanied by supporting documentation. All completed requests are reviewed in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other federal laws pertaining to disability and higher education.

Please note all Request Forms must be accessed through the assigned Hofstra student email account
