About Us

Michelle has over 15 years of experience in career counseling, experiential learning, and higher education administration. Prior to working in higher education, she worked in the communications industry, supporting college students from across the country as they interned at national media outlets in New York City and serving as the manager of public relations for a non-profit organization. Michelle's passions include helping students achieve their goals, and mentoring young professionals. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and volunteering. She is excited to be serving as the Executive Director of the Center for Career Design & Development at Hofstra, and working with an extremely talented team of student affairs professionals.

Michelle has earned an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership and an M.S.Ed. in Student Development Practices in Higher Education at St. John's University, an M.A. in Television/Film from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School for Public Communications, and a B.A. in Communication and Philosophy from The University of Scranton.

MaryBeth began working at Hofstra part-time in Academic Records. In 2007, she transferred to the Center for Career Design & Development full-time, where she serves as Senior Assistant. MaryBeth says she loves her job because of the daily interaction she has with coworkers, students and employers. With the support of her husband and 3 children, she recently graduated from the Zarb School of Business with a BBA in Management.

Darlene has worked in higher education career services for many years. Prior to that, she held positions in various aspects of the music business, including working for two entertainment law firms, a music magazine, and a record label. She also has experience as a corporate recruiter. Darlene was happy to finally find her passion in career services. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Career Development. Darlene enjoys spending time with her two daughters (and her cat) and also participating in various singing projects. As an undergraduate student, she had no idea what she wanted to do for a career, but career goals while growing up included counselor, hairdresser, human resources professional and rock star.

Jenna Campolieta joined the Center for Career Development and Design in January 2020 in the role of External Relations Coordinator. For the past 15+ years, she has worked in higher education with a focus on career services, employer relations, and experiential education. Jenna grew up on Long Island and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English from SUNY Albany and a Master of Arts degree with a focus in Student Development Administration from Seattle University. After leaving Seattle, Jenna worked in career services at the Toppel Career Center at the University of Miami and then returned to New York to work in career services at Pace University. For the past 9 years, she has taught several internship courses at Eugene Lang College for Liberal Arts at The New School in New York City.

Angela Monahan is the Assistant Director of Operations and Outreach for the Center for Career Design & Development . Previously, she served as the assistant director of Career Services at New York Institute of Technology's Long Island campus. In this role, she provided one-on-one career coaching, both in-person and virtually, to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors. She also created and delivered innovative programs to prepare students for the ever-changing job market. Prior to joining New York Tech, Angela worked in financial services recruiting. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Marist College and a master's degree in Human Resource Management and Development from New York University.

Julie Choi Kim is the Assistant Director of Career Design & Development, serving as a liaison to students in the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (HCLAS, non-STEM). She oversees the creation of innovative and relevant career education events, manages the Career Closet, and handles social media for the office. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Counseling. Before joining Hofstra, Julie worked as a licensed mental health therapist in New York. She is passionate about assisting Hofstra students, whether they are undecided, actively job searching, or in need of help refining their resumes and cover letters. When not in the office, you'll find Julie spending time at one of the wonderful beaches of Long Island with her husband and two daughters.

Sandra Buatti-Ramos is a Certified Life Mapping Coach (CLMC), Academy Certified Resume Writer (ACRW), and career coach. She provides holistic guidance and support to clients throughout their career development and career management endeavors and employs an integrated approach to coaching. She has extensive experience supporting students in engineering, computer science, business, policy, non-profit, and government sectors. Sandra is the 2021 CSPA-NYS Innovation & Research Award recipient and a recipient of the CSPA-NYS Champion of Diversity award. Her research has been published in the journal of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and she is a NACE Blog contributor. Sandra currently serves on the LICSPA EDI committee and the NACE LGBTQ+ affinity group, and she previously served on the NACE DEI committee. Sandra is currently pursuing a doctor of education from the University of North Dakota and earned a master of arts degree in higher education administration from Stony Brook University, a master of arts degree in communication from the University at Albany, and a bachelor of science degree in communication studies from SUNY Oneonta. Sandra's prior industry experience includes roles in finance, political communications, and state government.

Rebecca Zimmerman (she/they) is a Career Advisor and serves as liaison to the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, its students, and associated pre-professional organizations. She is an expert in rhetorical analysis and is eager to leverage her knowledge from years of working at small businesses to support students as they develop their careers. She uses empathy-driven communication and a whole-person approach to support students as they explore their goals and create paths to achieve them. She is passionate about empowering students to make career decisions that enable them to honor their experiences and be their authentic selves at work.

Rebecca has taught middle and high school English in Queens as well as classes on Long Island for adult learners of the English language. In roles outside of the education sphere, Rebecca has headed projects supporting equitable access to information and internal company diversity initiatives. She works as a tutor in her local community and has copywriting credits that include the Yale School of Medicine.

She is a graduate of Stony Brook University, from which she holds two degrees (a Bachelor’s degree in English and Rhetoric, and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration), and a Nassau County native excited to support students in her hometown. When not working with students, Rebecca can be found training for her next charity 5K, traveling with her partner, or learning about the art and science of coffee.
