The Resident Student Association (RSA) is a unique student-run organization that exists to improve the quality of life of Hofstra residential students by offering programs based on students' interests, as well as promoting a safe, supportive and welcoming community.
Aside from being the fun and exciting group of people that we all are, the RSA of Hofstra University is a creative and dynamic branch of the Office of Residential Programs that deals with the residents of the University. We address the problems, concerns and questions that resident students may have, along with representing the collective interests of Hofstra’s resident students to the Student Government Association (SGA), Administration, and the community at large. In conjunction with these functions, RSA provides social and educational events for individual residence halls and the college as a whole by organizing community building activities with other organizations on campus, and actively promoting diversity in activities and policies. Such activities include the Annual Snowball Semi-Formal Dance, Hofstra Siblings Day, Weekend Movie Events (Partnered with Entertainment Unlimited), Annual Spring BBQ, in conjunction with the Organization of Commuting Students (complete with caricature drawing, cotton candy, a DJ, and large inflatable activities), Relay for Life, as well supporting community-developing events facilitated by area hall councils.
Part of the RSA mission statement is to aid the Office of Residential Programs in maintaining and improving living conditions for all residential students. With this in mind the Residential Student Association is a body that the University looks to for input on important policy matters relating to the residence halls.
