The Office of Student Leadership and Activities has been designed to foster student’s growth and success by creating co-curricular experiences which include opportunities to develop life-long skills that prepare students to become better leaders and citizens through service opportunities, educational programs, and leadership experiences.

Welcome Back Party
Each fall, Student Leadership and Activities along with SGA, welcomes back all Club Presidents and members of E-Boards back to campus with a party. This party includes a speaker that will motivate, inspire, and supply ideas to our student leaders to ensure our clubs have a great and productive year.
9/11 Candlelight Ceremony
Each year we remember members of the Hofstra community who were lost in the tragic events of September 11th with a candlelight ceremony. This ceremony ensures that we keep our promise to never forget those who were lost that day.
Hofstra Idol
This annual competition showcases just how talented our Hofstra students are. During orientation, new students compete to display their talent during Welcome Week. The students who win that competition go on to face upper classmen during Parent and Family Weekend, where the “Hofstra Idol” will be crowned.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
This month (October) of educational programs helps teach the Hofstra community about relationships and dating and what to do if you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship. Programs include speakers, an annual walk, and various interactive opportunities for students to learn about the dangers of Domestic Violence.
Alcohol Awareness Week
This week of programs helps educate the Hofstra community about the dangers of alcohol. In addition, we work to educate students about the alternatives to drinking through their college years and beyond. Our goal is to give students the information they need to make healthy choices.
Homecoming
This annual Hofstra tradition, welcomes back alumni to the Hofstra Family to relive their college days. Events include a football game, a parade down Hempstead Turnpike featuring floats created by students clubs and organizations, and the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.
Blue Leadership Program
This Leadership Certificate Program seeks to provide students with opportunities to acquire and implement leadership skills and enhance professional competence while documenting achievements that can lead to career, service, and leadership advancement.
Hofstra Celebrates the Holidays
This Hofstra tradition works to celebrate and educate the Hofstra community about the various traditions that are celebrated during December. Student clubs and organizations, annually, created a Holiday village in which all members of the Hofstra community can interact with. In addition, students host a party for the Boys and Girls Club and hold a toy drive to help children in need.
Safe Spring Break
The goal of Safe Spring Break Week is to educate students about the various dangers that can occur on a spring break trip. We aim to give students the information they need to make informed decisions about health, stress, and responsibility not only during spring break but through their entire lives.
Alternative Spring Break
The Alternative Spring Break trip is an opportunity for students to practice humility and compassion through service to others. Annually, students to go to places for a week to help those who are in need. Past trip locations include Philadelphia and New Orleans.
Genocide Awareness Week
Student Leadership and Activities as well as several student clubs and organizations work together to educate the Hofstra community to increase awareness about the tragedies which unfold around the world, both past and presently. Some programs include: candlelight vigils, photo displays, and various speakers.
SERVICEdays
SERVICEdays are opportunities for students to engage and help out the community surrounding Hofstra. These events challenge students to become agents of change in the world they live in.
Hofstra Student Leadership Awards
This award ceremony recognizes outstanding students, student organizations, and members of the Hofstra community who have significantly contribute to the improvement of student life at Hofstra University. The leaders honored at this ceremony are a true embodiment of “Hofstra Pride.”
Stressbusters
This series of events work to limit the stress of students while studying for their final exams. These events encourage students to take a break and relax a little to recharge their batteries during this often stressful time. Events include yoga and massage sessions, games, and art activities.
