Comparative Literature, Languages, and Linguistics is the home base for most language instruction at Hofstra (except for French, Italian, and Spanish, which are housed in the department of Romance Languages and Literatures). Each of the modern languages taught in the department is spoken by millions of speakers. In fact, the languages taught in the department are spoken by a vast majority of the world's population. Achieving fluency in one of these languages is both culturally enriching and a professional asset.
