Hofstra University
The American Studies Program at Hofstra University offers an interdisciplinary course of study that can be taken for either a major or a minor. The program provides a broad liberal arts foundation and enables students to thoroughly develop their thinking, reading, and writing skills.

The American Studies Program acquaints students with America's intellectual and cultural development from perspectives of a variety of disciplines. American Studies seeks to make America's past, present, and future more understandable by providing a framework which integrates knowledge of American history, literature, politics, philosophy, economics, art, and music.

The programs of both majors and minors in American Studies can, with advisement, be readily adapted to the needs, abilities, and preferences of individual students looking forward to graduate work and to such careers as law, business, communications, government, and education.
