Study abroad is one of the most effective ways of learning about the world. Hofstra University's International Off-Campus Education (OCE) program offers all students exciting opportunities to earn credits toward their academic degree by enrolling in a study abroad program and/or participating in an international internship for a semester, a summer or winter, or an entire academic year.
Study abroad programs or internships are available in many cities, including Amsterdam, Athens, Beijing, Berlin, Bonn, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Edinburgh, Galway, Madrid, Melbourne, Milan, Paris, Prague, Santiago, Seoul, Tokyo, Venice, Vienna, and more. In all, Hofstra offers more than 60 study abroad programs in some 30 countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and elsewhere. (See Study Abroad Programs).
Students may intern in a wide range of areas, such as the corporate world, education, health care, law, medical research, museums and art galleries, governmental and non-governmental organizations, public service, theater, or publishing.
Student wishing to study abroad through an accredited program other than one currently offered by Hofstra University may do so under advisement from Hofstra's Director of International Off-Campus Education (See below).
Hofstra University's New College also offers three unique "Odyssey" programs—the European Odyssey, the Mexican Odyssey, and the Italian Odyssey—in which small groups of students travel and study abroad with Hofstra faculty.
Hofstra students participating in study abroad programs and international internships may be eligible for financial aid. Students who intend to receive Hofstra University credit for a study abroad experience (unless studying abroad on Hofstra faculty-led programs or Hofstra exchange program where the student is paying Hofstra tuition) will pay a Study Abroad Administrative Fee of $750. This fee is in addition to program charges.
